At Hollowells, we believe that the people who represent us are every bit as important as the services we provide. That’s why we’re looking for individuals who approach this work the same way we do – with genuine care, quiet professionalism, and a deep respect for the families we serve.

We currently have an opening for a casual Driver/Bearers to join our team across Northampton, Wellingborough, and Kettering.

What the Role Involves

As a casual Driver/Bearer, you’ll be part of the team supporting our funerals on an as-and-when-required basis. Your responsibilities will include driving our funeral fleet and assisting as a bearer – helping to carry the coffin with the dignity and steadiness that means so much to grieving families.

It is not a contractual position, and work is offered when needed. But for the right person, it’s a role that can become a meaningful and lasting part of their working life.

What We’re Looking For

  • Aged 25 or over
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • Tidy, well-presented and respectful appearance
  • Professional, discreet, and compassionate manner
  • Flexible availability

Previous experience in the funeral profession is always welcome, but it isn’t essential. What we look for above all else is the right attitude – someone who understands the weight of the work and takes pride in doing it well.

What It’s Like to Work for Hollowells

We’re a family business in the truest sense. Paul, Annette, Simon and Clare Hollowell are all actively involved in the day-to-day running of Hollowells, and that shapes everything about how we work – including how we treat the people who work alongside us.

Many of our team members have been with us for years, some for decades. That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because people feel valued, because the work itself is genuinely meaningful, and because being part of a trusted, long-established independent funeral home carries a sense of purpose that’s hard to find elsewhere.

For many, a role like this has been the start of a long and fulfilling career in the funeral profession. It offers a real insight into how a respected family firm operates – and for those who find their calling here, there are often opportunities to grow and develop over time.
