The Silver is our direct cremation with a Serenity Suite service – a meaningful, intimate service for family and friends, followed by a direct cremation at a local Northamptonshire crematorium. All from Hollowells, a local, independent team who will guide you through everything.
Not quite a traditional funeral. Something more personal.
A full traditional attended funeral at a crematorium is not the right choice for every family. But for some, a simple unattended direct cremation – with no service at all – does not feel right either.
Our Silver package offers something in between.
A direct cremation, which keeps the cost significantly lower than a traditional funeral. Combined with a personal, intimate service at our Serenity Suite – a warm, private room at Hollowells – where family and friends can gather, say goodbye together, and do it entirely on their own terms.
It has the warmth and meaning of a real service, without the formality or the price tag of a traditional funeral.

The Silver: Unattended Direct Cremation with Serenity Suite Service From £1,995
Included as standard:
- Collection and care of your loved one locally, by private ambulance within 15 miles of our Beech Avenue office
- All advice, administration and documentation
- An eco-friendly cardboard coffin
- A 45-minute service for up to 30 guests at our Serenity Suite
- Your loved one will rest in the room with you throughout the service, before going to the crematorium
- Use of Hollowells music system – play whatever means something to you
- Attendance of an experienced Hollowells funeral director to guide and support the service
- Complimentary teas / coffees and biscuits after the service
- Free on-street parking and a fully accessible entrance
- Transportation of the deceased to the crematorium
- Cremation at a local Northamptonshire crematorium
- Ashes returned to you in a simple container
- Guidance and support from our experienced local team throughout
- Signposting to local and national bereavement support services after the cremation

There is no set format or order of service to follow. You decide what the occasion looks and feels like.
You might choose a piece of music to play as family and friends arrive, invite people to speak, or read something that meant something to your loved one. Or you might prefer something quieter – a small group, a few words, and time together.
Your loved one will rest in the room with you throughout the service, before going to the crematorium. If you would like someone to lead the service, we can arrange a minister, priest or celebrant. Or you can lead it yourselves.
After the service, everyone is welcome to stay for teas / coffees and biscuits – time to gather properly, share stories and spend a little longer together before the day is over.

The Serenity Suite is unique to Hollowells in Northampton: National direct cremation providers do not offer anything like it, nor do local providers. It is something we created because families told us they wanted a more personal option.
Your loved one stays near home: From the moment your loved one comes into our care at Hollowells on Beech Avenue, to the cremation itself at a Northamptonshire crematorium, everything happens locally. They are never transported across the country like the national providers do.

Hollowells has offered direct cremation in Northampton for many years. Choosing a local, independent funeral director means your loved one stays near home, the cremation takes place at the local crematorium, and you have a real local team to support you throughout.
Yes – and this is one of the biggest advantages of direct cremation. Because the cremation is separate from any gathering, families are free to arrange a service in whatever way feels right for them. Some hold a celebration of life at home, a favourite pub or restaurant, or an outdoor location that meant something to their loved one. Others choose a formal service at our Serenity Suite at Hollowells, before the cremation takes place. There is no obligation to follow any particular format.
Once the cremation has taken place at the local crematorium, your loved one’s ashes are returned to you by our team. You can then choose to keep them, scatter them somewhere meaningful, bury them, or make other arrangements entirely, in your own time, with no pressure.
