Coronavirus Update

Changes to Registration.

The traditional way of registering a death has changed. In order to protect their staff, the Registration Service will now accept the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death (MCCD) in an electronic format directly from the medical practitioner. The informant (person registering the death) would then contact the registrar online https://www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/councilservices/births-deaths-ceremonies/deaths/Pages/register-a-death.aspx to book an appointment for registration to take place. Registration will then take place via telephone at the appointed time. Following registration, the documents you require will be posted to you by the registrar.

If the medical practitioner gives you by hand or by post the MCCD please contact the registrars online https://www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/councilservices/births-deaths-ceremonies/deaths/Pages/register-a-death.aspx to book an appointment to attend in person to register. Only one person may attend this appointment.

In both cases any documents needed by the funeral director will be sent directly by the registrars to the funeral director.
